Temperature of Smart Technology - Lifeware Spoon
Lift Labs launched a new smart product named “Liftware Level Starter Kit” recently. Working with the level handle and the soup spoon, it can help people with cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, Huntington's disease, Parkinson's disease, or post-stroke deficits to pick up food (such as soups, cereals and other liquids) easily and stably. Any tremors and shaky hands that may be related to conditions like Parkinson's or essential tremor are always under monitor by its built-in accelerometer in real time, it will counteract the effects of tremors through the motor reverse movement until food is safely put into the user’s mouth.
How does it work?
The stabilizing handle contains motion sensors that detect hand motion, and a small onboard computer that distinguishes unwanted hand tremor from the intended movement of the hand. To counteract hand tremor and stabilize the utensil, the onboard computer directs two motors in the handle to move the utensil attachment in the opposite direction of any detected tremor.
